Omnicity Expands into Rural Ohio
Rushville, Indiana – March 31, 2010 - Omnicity Corp (OTCBB: OMCY) – Omnicity, the Midwest’s largest fixed Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), completed the purchase of the assets of Bright Choice, Inc., a subsidiary of Consolidated Electric Cooperative (CEC) in North Central Ohio. Bright Choice, Inc (BCI) represents the first of several acquisitions that Omnicity plans to complete in 2010 in rural Ohio. “We are excited and welcome the BCI employees and customers into the Omnicity family and further our relationship with Consolidated Electric Cooperative with our expansion into rural Ohio”, added Greg Jarman, CEO of Omnicity.
Omnicity was introduced to CEC by its Ohio partner, SZD Whiteboard, during the first round of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act application process. CEC was awarded funding to build a fiber optic middle mile network and Omnicity plans to make use of the fiber optic network to support its wireless services in the area. CEC services more than 16,000 electric meters and the BCI network increases the Omnicity footprint to 8 counties in Ohio. Jerry Lauer, President of CEC and BCI commented, “We look forward to what the Omnicity team will do to add more broadband services to our area and will continue to bring the ‘Commitment to Community’ that has been a trademark of our company.”
