Consolidated Electric and Delaware County enter into a contract providing fiber optic cable
Consolidated Electric Cooperative (CEC) and Delaware County today entered into a $665,000 contract whereby Consolidated Electric will provide the County with approximately 16- miles of fiber optic cable connecting County facilities to Business BX datacenter in Worthington, Ohio. The agreement is a culmination of a long term working relationship between Delaware County and CEC as a public-private partnership benefitting all involved parties.
This project is a key component of CEC’s 166 –mile fiber optic network which will connect peering points in northern Columbus and Mansfield extending through Delaware and Morrow Counties. The “middle mile” network will be carrier neutral in that all service providers will have access to the network. In addition to providing for CEC’s internal telecommunications needs and providing connectivity necessary for implementation of CEC’s “Smart Grid” initiative, the network is expected to promote economic development opportunities throughout the service area.
